Throw those pesky goals away
As a REALTOR, operating my business without goals seems as silly as a fireman facing a blaze without a water hose.
When I first got into this crazy wonderful business, the first thing my broker told me to do was figure out my goals and write a business plan based on those goals.
Where did I want to be in 6 months, a year, 5 years? Heady questions that allowed me to think and dream big.
The answers to those questions morphed into a never-ending, ever-increasing To-Do list that has grown to hairy, indecent proportions what with all the busyness that accompanies our business.
It seems the endless prospecting, phone calls, and follow-up we do just to keep our heads above water leaves little time to reflect on our business plan, to-do list, or our lofty goals.
And what of our families, our friends, our faith? Where on our to-do list do we make time for ourselves?
Then I read this article today suggesting that the best goal is no goal. WHAT??? Did I read that right? Success without goals just doesn't make sense!
