Are you headed to Fall for Greenville this weekend? The link below will provide you the musical line up! So thankful the bad weather is behind us and everyone can enjoy this amazing event! :
Pickens County Pickin n Grinnin
A local treat that will take you back in time, Hagood Mill operates above Pickens, SC on the third Saturday of every month. It’s a water powered gristmill (circa 1845) that operated commercially until the 1960’s, when government regulations requiring corn testing shut down local corn mills. It turns cobs of corn into corn meal, grits, and scratch feed mechanically, processing corn much more quickly than you could by hand.
Local artisans showcase their old world skills, with knitting, spinning, weaving, milling, churning, chair caning, moonshining, quilting and blacksmithing demonstrations this past week. Several of the artisans have their wares for sale. Local musicians also play live bluegrass under a shade tree by the chickens. The August event (August 18, 2012) will feature Southern Gospel musicians, along with the monthly bluegrass. Come enjoy a weekend treat! Follow Highway 178 north of Pickens, past the new high school, and look for Hagood Mill Rd on the left across from Masters Grocery.
