A "pet friendly" home can be seen as a positive characteristic to some home buyers. The U.S. Humane Society estimates that 62% of American households include at least one pet. As a dog owner, I look for fenced back yards, dog doors, and soft grass or play areas that would be safe for my dog.
Last year we rented a beach house with several attributes that a dog owner would appreciate, especially while on vacation. The main part of the home had hardwood flooring and dog bowls ready for use. The back deck and yard was designed so that I could let my dog out the rear deck entrance and he could make his way down the deck steps to the yard on his own and still be in a fenced area. “Pet friendly" back yards and neighbors waking their dogs assure me that a home is in a safe place for animals to live as well as humans.
