Lost Treasures in the Upstate

American Pickers, Antique Road Show, American Restoration, Pawn Stars ; these are all TV series that have sparked a revolution.  If you are in the upstate and have an hour or so to kill there are numerous warehouse style antique shops that are a must for a visit while in town or as a resident a weekend outing.  We’re all familiar with the old adage of “one mans trash is another mans treasure” and with the current interest of making old new again it’s more popular than ever.

Do you remember when you could buy jeans with holes…yes holes in them and they actually cost three times what a pair would that had no holes?  This lost art of decorating your home, man cave or garage in vintage chic is BACK and with its current popularity of these shows this has become a thriving business that is now nationally recognized.  We have all probably been with our Moms as a kid when she popped into an antique shop but now it’s common place and highly popular for all ages.

A few areas in the upstate to browse these types of warehouses are Easley, Greenville, Mauldin, and Simpsonville.  It’s as easy as a quick Google search for antique shops in the upstate of South Carolina.  If I were to recommend one my wife and I thought very highly of from their southern charm to their incredible inventory would have be Southern Estates Antiques in Greenville/Mauldin.  They carry over 90 antique dealers items set up in sections, all categorized and tagged.  Make a weekend of it and come find your own hidden treasure in South Carolina.
