Who enjoys beautiful scenery, incredible views and a breath of fresh air on the weekends?  If that sounds appealing to you, Greenville SC has yet again another perk to its immensely appealing atmosphere.  Greenville is thriving in nearly every aspect of its economy though something that might be overlooked is its stunning hiking trails within our State Parks.

From a brisk site seeing trail to levels only an expert would venture to attempt there is something here for all levels of experience.  Caesars Head State Park has some of the most breath taking views you will ever be visually stimulated by.  The vast scenes on many of the overlooks in this park are undoubtedly a portrait painted by God’s hand.  Many of the trails are rated by levels of difficulty from 1-10 and are color coded on the maps as well as marks on numerous trees throughout each trail as to be assured you will never lose your way.

Recently I had the pleasure of visiting Paris Mountain State Park where we were highly impressed by a level 9 trail with a distance of 2.4 miles.  The first mile seemed very much like a 1-4 level trail though as we made the turn just half way through the 9 difficulty level was much more understandable.  The remainder of the trail was a climb straight up the mountain with numerous obstructions to avoid.  Needless to say if you’re looking for a challenge or just a “walk in the park” there is a trail here for everybody no matter your goal.

Fall is right around the corner; go for a stroll with the entire family and take in just a little piece of what South Carolina has to offer.  The cool breeze, the changing of the leaves and the priceless time with the ones you love the most is hard to beat.  Many of the parks yield a very minimal entrance fee of no more than a few dollars so it’s well within any budget if you are looking for fun cost effective activities.

Here is a list of additional parks in the Upstate: Table Rock, Jones Gap, Oconee, Poinsett, Croft, and Hickory Knob.
