Are you a First Time Home Buyer ? NOT sure how the Realtor commissions work ? Do the buyers have to pay out of pocket for their Realtor ? Please take a minute and read below !!!
Most real estate agents are paid through a commission, or a Realtor fee, on the homes they sell. But here's something you might not know: Who pays the Realtor fee: the buyer or the seller?
If you’re buying a home, you’re probably off the hook for paying the Realtor fee. The home seller usually picks up this payment. Typically, the fee is paid by the seller at the settlement (closing) table, where the fee is subtracted from the proceeds of the home sale.
The Realtor fee is typically paid by the seller to the listing broker who, in turn, shares part of it with the Realtor who brings a buyer to the table. Now UNLESS you purchase from a For Sale By Owner using a Realtor - then there might be a possibility of this, but generally the Seller pays the Realtor's commission.
